Narragansett’s curriculum review process is a part of our district’s continuous improvement cycle. Teams of teachers from each content area and grade span meet regularly in PK-12 Vertical Articulation Teams (VAT) to review standards and grade level expectations (GLE’s) in relation to curriculum units and assessments in place and student learning data. The team then works as a part of the district Curriculum and Professional Development Council (CPDC) to design necessary professional learning, resource acquisition/updates, and/or curriculum revision projects that are completed in Narragansett’s annual Summer Curriculum Academy. The VAT team then works with the Curriculum Director to coordinate and monitor the support and implementation of new or updated curricula.

Curriculum
We must ensure that all students have access to a rigorous curriculum aligned to standards. Each discipline follows national and/or state standards. Documents for all disciplines can be found by clicking on "Curriculum" above.

Instruction
Students are at the heart of our instruction. To ensure that all students succeed academically, high-quality instruction is the norm within our schools. This requires teachers developing a common language for instruction and effectively using a common set of instructional strategies that have a high likelihood of increasing student achievement. Instructional planning involves creating the environment for learning, helping students develop understanding and helping students extend and apply knowledge. Assessment

The Narragansett Assessment System utilizes state, district, and classroom assessments to ensure students are both achieving and growing. Our system also allows us to close achievement gaps.
