Career and Technical Education Program

The Narragansett School System is proud to offer high school students in and outside of our district the opportunity to take part in our CTE (Career and Technical) program, which hosts advanced and extensive courses with unique hands on experience.  Our school's program is designed for students preparing for careers, giving them the chance to obtain hands-on experience while learning trades and specialties to launch their college careers.  We are one of more than 54 high schools in the network, all working together to prepare students early on for a successful career.

Educator Preparation
Our newest Education CTE Pathway will give students the unique opportunity to explore and immerse themselves in PK-12 classrooms, explore core areas of study such as English/Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, and work with students and educators across the Narragansett School District.   Through this program, enrolled students will participate in coursework aligned with the nationally accredited curriculum, Educators Rising, and complete micro-credentials in current educational topics such as Anti-Bias Instruction, Formative Assessment, Classroom Culture, Engagement, and Collaboration.

Mechanical Trades - Plumbing
New for the 2018/2019 school year, Mechanical Trades in Plumbing is now being offered thanks to a partnership with Rhode Island's UA Local 51.  Students will have the opportunity to learn on and off site within the field of pluming as well as coursework in construction management, pipe fitting, and welding.

Agricultural Science
The program prepares students for entry-level employment or higher education in the fields of agriculture and other related fields, including animal management plant science and sustainable agriculture. Our exceptional Agricultural Science program offers a wide range of focused curriculum and training where students are immersed in various Future Farmers of America classes in our new greenhouse.  The integrated academic instruction and laboratory approach enables classroom instruction to be more effective in providing a rigorous program of instruction within the context of “real world learning” applications. The areas of study include: plant science systems, animal science systems, natural resources and environmental systems, and agricultural mechanics systems.

Information and Computer Technology
This highly-engaging Information and Computer Technology program launched at Narragansett High School in 2017. Thanks to a state grant of $50,000, the high school continues to expand the established program in grades 9 through 12 where students will learn everything from coding and video game development to virtual reality animation programs; all with a goal to enrich student experience and create lifelong skills.
