Initial Identification Process for MLLs

  • Your student will be screened for English language proficiency within 20 days of registering, and a family interview will be scheduled. Your input and the information you share is an important part of creating a language service plan for your learner.
  •  The results of the language screener will be shared with you, and you will receive information about the program model & service time/s that your student may qualify for.
  •  Narragansett uses a content-based program model that supports students in class, with additional English Language Development period/s.
  • You have the right to refuse language services at any time.
  • All MLLs in the state will participate in an annual ACCESS Test to measure their English language progress. *Even if a student opts-out of MLL services, they will continue to be assessed each year until they reach proficiency.
