Narragansett High School is excited to announce its recognition on the 2024 AP School Honor Roll, earning Silver honors for meeting all Silver criteria. This acknowledgment highlights the school’s commitment to expanding access to advanced coursework and supporting college readiness for all students.
Narragansett High School demonstrated strong performance across three essential categories that assess AP achievement and college readiness:
- College Culture (Silver): 59% of the Class of 2024 participated in at least one AP course during their high school career. This reflects the school’s dedication to fostering a culture of academic rigor and preparing students for post-secondary success.
- College Credit (Gold): 38% of students scored a 3 or higher on at least one AP Exam, demonstrating their ability to earn college credit while still in high school. This achievement emphasizes Narragansett High School’s focus on affordability and access to higher education.
- College Optimization (Gold): 14% of the Class of 2024 completed five or more AP courses, including exams taken during their freshman and sophomore years, ensuring an optimal balance of coursework without overloading students in their junior and senior years.
"These accomplishments highlight our commitment to recruiting high-quality teachers, encouraging students to challenge themselves, and providing opportunities for all students to engage in rigorous coursework,” said Dr. Peter Cummings, Superintendent of Narragansett. “While there is still room for growth, this is a positive indicator of our progress, and I want to thank our administrators, faculty, and support staff for their ongoing dedication to the children of Narragansett."
In addition to this recognition, Narragansett School System has been ranked #1 in Rhode Island and among the top 3% nationally for having top-rated teachers by Niche.com, a leading platform for school rankings and reviews.
